How to find screenshots on Android

Android keeps screenshots in Google Photos and your Files app. Find them in seconds — then turn the keepers into a checklist with ActionShot.

Android screenshots scatter across Google Photos, the Files app and your gallery — same captures, three different doors. Knowing all three means no screenshot stays lost, whatever app took it.

Once found, the real work starts: each keeper hides asks, dates or promises that need reading and retyping. This guide covers the finding; ActionShot covers everything after.

Steps

  1. 01 — Check Google Photos Library

Open Google Photos, tap Library, then Screenshots. If backup is on, even deleted-device screenshots survive here — the most reliable single view of everything you have captured.

  2. 02 — Check the Files app

Open Files, tap Images, then Screenshots. This shows captures stored on the device itself, including ones taken before backup ran or while offline.

  3. 03 — Check your gallery albums

Open Gallery and look for the Screenshots album. Some makers (Samsung, Xiaomi) file captures under their own album names — search “screenshot” in the gallery search bar if it is hiding.

  4. 04 — Turn the keepers into tasks

Share any keeper straight into ActionShot. Each image becomes an editable checklist with deadlines and people attached — export it as text, CSV, calendar file or straight to Notion.

Found them. Now skip the retyping

Upload any screenshot free and get every action back in its own words, with deadlines resolved to real dates when safe. Android already files your screenshots — ActionShot reads what is inside them.

Questions

Where are screenshots saved on Android?

In Google Photos under Library, Screenshots; in Files under Images, Screenshots; and in your gallery's Screenshots album. All three usually show the same captures.

Why can't I find an old screenshot?

Check Google Photos first — device copies get deleted while cloud copies survive. If backup was off, look in Files, which keeps on-device captures even offline ones.

What do I do with screenshots I keep “for later”?

Run them through ActionShot once a week: each becomes a dated checklist, so “later” turns into named tasks with deadlines instead of a growing folder.
